What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan, is not an acid despite its name, but rather a large sugar molecule. Hyaluronic acid can bind up to 1000% of its weight in water, making it an outstanding moisturizer and a key ingredient in cosmetics.
In cosmetics, hyaluronic acid is produced through fermentation, where microbes generate the acid under controlled conditions.
Who is Hyaluronic Acid Suitable For?
Hyaluronic acid is an excellent ingredient because it is suitable for all skin types. Naturally occurring in the human body, hyaluronic acid thickens the extracellular matrix, but its production decreases with age.
Use Hyaluronic Acid For:
- Dry skin
- Sensitive skin
- Aging skin
- Combination or normal skin
- Surface dry skin
- Irritated skin
- Even oily skin - the serum does not clog pores!
Hyaluronic acid binds water molecules to the skin, preventing them from evaporating. This results in soft, supple skin and the smoothing of fine lines due to increased moisture.
How to Recognize a Good Hyaluronic Acid Serum
The most commonly used hyaluronic acid has a large molecular size, which prevents it from penetrating the skin's surface layer. While moisturizing the surface layer is important and greatly improves skin condition, large-molecule hyaluronic acid does not absorb deeply into the skin. Hence, smaller molecular alternatives have been developed. Small-molecule hyaluronic acid penetrates deeper skin layers and can reduce the appearance of fine lines.
What Makes Flow Cosmetics' Hyaluron & Probiotics Serum Special?
To maximize the moisturizing effect, Flow Cosmetics' Hyaluron & Probiotics Serum contains hyaluronic acid in two different molecular sizes.
- The larger molecule hyaluronic acid effectively moisturizes the skin's surface layer, keeping it soft.
- The smaller molecule hyaluronic acid penetrates the skin’s surface, binding moisture to deeper skin layers, thus smoothing fine lines.
The serum also contains probiotics, which boost collagen production and help soothe and balance the skin's functions.
How to Use the Serum
Apply the serum to clean skin morning and evening after toner but before moisturizer or facial oil.
Our favorite way to treat dry skin is to first spray Rose Floral Water, then apply Hyaluron & Probiotics Serum, and add a few drops of Arctic Beauty Oil to seal in moisture. The serum enhances the moisturizing and brightening effects of the oil.
